Getting married on frozen lake… what an unforgettable experience!

We met at Jeevan & Zach riverside cabin in Squamish the morning of their wedding, where they got ready in separate rooms. Once they were both ready, we headed outside just a few steps behind their cabin to the Cheakamus River for their first look. They positioned themselves back-to-back and held hands in anticipation.

After their emotional first look, we headed to Whistler for their ceremony at the Stone Circle. We were greeted by their lovely officiant, Linda. They said their vows on at the Stone Circle with views of the Alta Lake in the distance. The lake was completely frozen and it was stunning, almost dream-like.

After they said their vows, they celebrated with champagne and we wandered down to the frozen lake. We could be sure that the lake was fully frozen as we saw a couple of folks ice windsurfing in the distance (definitely just learned about this activity, it looked like so much fun). We spent the next few hours exploring the lake and taking portraits.

Before heading back to Squamish, we stopped at a viewpoint to soak in the sunset views and finished off with some sparklers. They ended their incredible day with pizza and bonfires at their cabin. Jeevan & Zach, thank you for trusting us and having us document such a wonderful and fun day.

Before we get to the photos, I wanted to share a few tips if you’re considering eloping at the Stone Circle in Whistler!

TIPS FOR PLANNING YOUR WEDDING AT THE WHISTLER STONE CIRCLE

  1. This is a private location that has to be booked in advance – it can be easily done online here.
  2. One thing of mention is that with any outdoor wedding, it is important to follow the Leave No Trace Principles. We had arrived to the location to find rose petals left behind from a previous event and not disposed – so this is just a friendly reminder to pack out all garbage.
  3. This location is actually just steps away from a residential neighbourhood, and parking is limited. It would be a good idea arrive 10 – 15 minutes early to make sure you get a parking spot!
