Iceland Waterfall Wedding
If you’ve ever been to Iceland, aka the land of glaciers, volcanoes and waterfalls, I’m sure you know how incredible this place is. It’s a place that makes you feel deeply connected to nature in a way that can only be experienced first-hand.
And getting married here? It is truly a magical experience.
Joanna and Kili, two people very familiar with spontaneity and adventure, decided to fly across the world for an Iceland elopement. I’ll just start by saying how grateful I am to have been able to document their day and how much I adore these two.
The day of their elopement, it was one of those rare, sunny, warm-ish days in Iceland. They got ready at a stunning Airbnb surrounded by glaciers and meadows, hand-in-hand during hair and makeup. After a sweet first look just outside the Airbnb, Joanna + Kili ventured out to a grassy meadow for their ceremony. The sun shined warm while they exchanged tear and laughter filled vows — it was magical to say the least.
We spent the rest of the day exploring a hidden waterfall, running around Iceland’s iconic black sand beach, and watching the birds flying over the basalt columns. Their entire day was beyond anything I could’ve imagined—yes the landscapes in Iceland were absolutely stunning, but it was just the amount of love between Joanna and Kili that was so beautiful to witness and capture. I’ll never forget the adventure that was this day and these two lovely humans I was lucky enough to photograph.
If you haven’t yet been to Iceland, this is your sign to put it on the top of your travel list. It’s full of beyond stunning landscapes – I’m talking meadows, glaciers, cliff-sides, black sand beaches that stretch for miles. And waterfalls, lots and lots of beautiful waterfalls. It’s otherworldly. The fact that Kili and Joanna were up for this wild adventure—to fly across the world to this place on a whim for their elopement is a true testament to their spontaneity.
